The fatal accident happened around 11:05 a.m. at the intersection of Brawley Avenue and State Route 86, according to the California Highway Patrol. Investigators determined that a 77-year-old man driving a 2023 Chevrolet Blazer struck a 2011 Toyota Highlander on its right side, causing it to overturn. The 8-year-old girl was ejected from the Toyota and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, a 38-year-old woman, sustained moderate injuries, while a 2-year-old girl passenger suffered unspecified injuries. The Chevrolet driver and his 82-year-old female passenger were unharmed.
