Fresno County, CA, June 28, 2025 – A tragic hit-and-run crash claimed the life of a woman in Orange Cove on Saturday night, June 28, 2025. According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Adams Avenue and Cove Road. The victim, 38-year-old Amanda Maldonado of Orange Cove, was riding a bicycle westbound on Adams Avenue when she was struck from behind by a Chevy 1500 pickup truck. Authorities identified the suspected driver as 41-year-old Rafaela Cruz. Cruz allegedly fled the scene without stopping to assist or call for help. Maldonado suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released details on whether Cruz has been apprehended. The community is mourning the loss of Maldonado, remembered as a vibrant and beloved member of Orange Cove.
