Driver Killed, Kids Injured in High-Speed Crash on SB 215 Freeway North of Columbia Avenue
Riverside, CA – May 24, 2025 – A deadly high-speed collision on the Southbound 215 Freeway north of Columbia Avenue claimed the life of one driver and left six others injured, including three children, according to authorities.The crash occurred at approximately 9:32 p.m. when emergency personnel from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Riverside Fire Department, and AMR Ambulance responded to the scene. Upon arrival, responders found a male driver trapped inside a red sedan, unconscious. Riverside Firefighters performed extrication to free the victim, who was later pronounced deceased at a hospital. The accident also involved an overturned SUV carrying seven occupants. Six victims were transported to local hospitals with various injuries; among them were three children whose condition remains unknown. Eyewitnesses reported the red sedan was traveling at an estimated speed of 120 mph and may have been under the influence of alcohol. All southbound lanes on the 215 Freeway were temporarily closed during rescue and investigation efforts.
