Encinitas, CA (January 8, 2025) – The San Diego Coroner’s Office has identified 45-year-old Marcos Domingo Perez from Encinitas as the bicyclist who tragically died following a crash on Encinitas Boulevard. The incident occurred on January 1 at around 5:51 p.m., near the intersection of Encinitas Boulevard and Valley Park Way, east of Cerro Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Perez was riding his bicycle eastbound on Encinitas Boulevard when a Hyundai sedan collided with him just east of Cerro Street. Perez was rushed to a local hospital, where he was initially treated, but his condition deteriorated, and he was pronounced dead three days later.
