Santa Barbara, CA – A person sustained injuries in a collision involving a sedan and a commercial truck late Tuesday night on Highway 101 near Gaviota, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 10:40 p.m., approximately a quarter-mile north of Highway 1.
Authorities say a sedan collided with a commercial truck belonging to an event rental firm under unclear circumstances. The impact caused the sedan’s front end to become lodged underneath the semi-truck’s trailer.
Despite the severity of the crash, the driver of the sedan managed to extricate themselves from the vehicle.
Emergency responders, including CHP officers, Santa Barbara County firefighters, and American Medical Response personnel, arrived at the scene.
The driver of the sedan suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
