Police Investigate Overnight String of Business Burglaries
Police are investigating an overnight string of commercial burglaries that targeted multiple businesses across Alameda, raising concerns among local business owners and residents. According to the Alameda Police Department, between six and nine businesses were broken into during the early morning hours, with incidents reported around 3 a.m. Authorities believe a group of suspects carried out the coordinated break-ins within a short period of time.
Officers responded to several alarm activations across the city as business owners discovered shattered storefront windows and signs of forced entry. Investigators confirmed that detectives have already arrested two individuals on unrelated offenses while identifying additional persons of interest believed to be connected to the burglary spree.
Among the affected locations were locally owned establishments, including bakeries and tea shops that reported significant property damage. Business owners described smashed glass windows, damaged entryways, and stolen cash registers. In some cases, suspects reportedly took only small amounts of money while leaving businesses facing costly repairs and operational disruptions.
Commercial burglaries often occur during overnight hours when businesses are closed and streets are quieter. Law enforcement officials believe the suspects moved quickly between locations, targeting storefronts that appeared vulnerable. Surveillance footage from several businesses is now being reviewed as investigators attempt to identify all individuals involved and determine whether the incidents are connected to broader regional theft patterns.
