Thermal, CA (December 21, 2024) – 51-year-old Shuru Zhang of La Puente was killed in a head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver on Highway 86 near 66th Avenue on Friday night. The accident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. when a black Chrysler, traveling the wrong way, collided head-on with a white Honda Civic driven by Zhang. Zhang died at the scene, while the 20-year-old male driver and his 18-year-old female passenger in the Chrysler sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. The driver of the Chrysler was arrested for felony DUI. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
