Volodymyr Molchanovych Killed in Suspected DUI Crash at North Haven Drive and Watt Avenue
Sacramento, CA – May 4, 2025 – A suspected DUI crash in North Highlands on Sunday night claimed the life of 30-year-old Volodymyr Molchanovych, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal collision occurred around 10 p.m. at the intersection of North Haven Drive and Watt Avenue. Authorities say 28-year-old Yurii Shylovets was driving a BMW southbound on Watt Avenue when he struck a Nissan Altima that was turning left out of a business driveway. After the impact, the BMW veered onto the median and collided with two large trees. Molchanovych, a passenger in the BMW, was pronounced dead at the scene. Shylovets was found unconscious and transported to a hospital, where he was later determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The investigation is ongoing.
