Whatcom County, WA – Brandon Gipson, 42, a public works maintenance worker from Ferndale, was tragically killed in an accident near East Smith and Noon Roads on Tuesday morning.

The Washington State Patrol reports that at around 9 a.m., a construction vehicle operated by a 64-year-old man was backing down the right shoulder of eastbound Smith Road in a construction zone when it struck Gipson, who was walking westbound on the same shoulder.

Gipson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Details surrounding the crash remain limited, and the incident is under investigation.
