La Mesa, CA – May 14, 2025San Diego Police Department. – A 24-year-old man sustained serious injuries after his electric bicycle collided with a vehicle at a busy intersection in Mira Mesa on Wednesday evening, according to the San Diego Police Department. The accident occurred just before 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Carroll Canyon Road and Camino Ruiz. Authorities say the man was riding a Ridstar mountain e-bike northbound in the southbound bicycle lane of Camino Ruiz. As he entered the intersection, he collided with a gray 2021 Hyundai Venue that was turning from eastbound Carroll Canyon Road onto southbound Camino Ruiz. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported the e-bike rider to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with a closed fracture to his left femur . Police said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash. The driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
