Elderly Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Incident in Koreatown, LA
Koreatown, Los Angeles – November 27, 2024 – An elderly man in his 80s was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early this morning at the intersection of 6th Street and Western Avenue in Koreatown. The collision occurred around 6:06 a.m. as the man was crossing westbound on Western Avenue at Seventh Street in a marked crosswalk. Police say the suspect, driving a light gray or blue 2004-2006 Acura MDX, struck the victim and fled the scene without rendering aid. The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on Western Avenue toward 4th Street. Investigators believe the vehicle may have sustained damage to its front right passenger side.
LAPD officers have not found any witnesses but are working to obtain CCTV footage from nearby businesses. The victim’s identity has not been released, pending family notification. The city of Los Angeles is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the driver.
