Elvira Nemenzo Identified as Woman Killed in Interstate 15 Crash Near Harvard Road
Newberry Springs, CA – July 7 — Authorities have identified the woman who was killed in a two-vehicle crash that injured four others Sunday afternoon in Newberry Springs. According to the California Highway Patrol, Elvira Nemenzo, 66, of Madera, died in the collision on northbound Interstate 15, south of Harvard Road. The crash occurred at approximately 12:10 p.m. and involved a Toyota and a silver Nissan hatchback. Both vehicles came to rest in the centre divider following the impact. Authorities said Nemenzo was trapped inside the Nissan and had to be extricated by firefighters. Despite rescue efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the Nissan, Charmaine Smith, 47, and Adrian House, 10, sustained critical injuries. Both were airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Centre for treatment. Two additional people also suffered injuries in the crash, bringing the total number of injured victims to four. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
