Six Injured After Car Runs Red Light, Collides with FAX Bus at Shields Avenue and First Street
Fresno, CA – January 7- Six people were hospitalized Wednesday morning after a driver ran a red light and triggered a multi-vehicle crash involving a city bus at a Fresno intersection, authorities said. The collision occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. on January 7, 2026, at the intersection of Shields Avenue and First Street. According to reports, a Fresno Area Express (FAX) bus was traveling northbound on First Street and approaching Shields Avenue when a car traveling westbound on Shields Avenue failed to stop for a red light . Investigators said the vehicle struck the bus in the intersection before continuing and colliding with a second passenger vehicle. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene to assist the injured. Four passengers aboard the bus, along with the drivers of the two involved cars, were transported to local hospitals with injuries described as unspecified. No fatalities were reported.
