Gabrielle Valdez Arrested After Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 99 Near Rosedale Highway
Bakersfield, CA – May 9 — A Bakersfield woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a wrong-way crash on Highway 99 left two people injured Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. on northbound Highway 99 near Rosedale Highway. Investigators said 33-year-old Gabrielle Monique Valdez of Bakersfield was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Impala southbound in the No. 1 lane of the northbound side of Highway 99 at an unknown speed. At the same time, an 18-year-old woman was traveling northbound in a 2003 Honda Accord when the two vehicles collided head-on. Authorities reported that both drivers sustained minor to moderate injuries in the crash. Emergency responders transported the injured parties to Kern Medical for treatment.
