Lebec, CA – December 25 – One of the two juveniles killed in a Christmas Day crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway near Lebec has been identified as 9-year-old Jorge Preciado, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred shortly before 3 p.m. south of Vista Del Lago Road. CHP investigators said a gold Toyota RAV4 traveling northbound lost control and crashed into the rear of a blue Nissan Rogue that was stopped in the center median. Three juveniles riding in the Nissan were ejected as a result of the impact. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, two of the children, including 9-year-old Jorge Preciado, were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not immediately release the identity of the second juvenile.CHP reported that the driver involved, identified as Jorge Preciado, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment following the crash. There was no update on the condition of the third minor. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
