Man Killed in High-Speed Crash with Semi-Truck on Highway 99 Near Hosking Avenue
Bakersfield, CA – May 10 — A man was killed in a collision involving a Honda Civic and a semi-truck early Sunday morning on Highway 99 in Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 1:58 a.m. on northbound Highway 99 near Hosking Avenue. Investigators said the driver of a 2015 black Honda Civic was traveling northbound in the No. 3 lane at a high speed behind a 2019 Peterbilt semi-truck driven by a 34-year-old man from Delano. Authorities reported that the semi-truck was traveling at about 55 mph when the Honda crashed into the rear of the trailer for reasons that remain under investigation. The impact forced the Honda onto the right shoulder beneath the Hosking Avenue overpass. Emergency responders pronounced the Honda driver dead at the scene due to fatal injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the Peterbilt suffered minor injuries and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
