One Killed in Rear-End Crash Involving Semi-Truck on Interstate 5 Near Newman
Newman, CA – June 22 — One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision involving a van and a semi-truck early Monday morning near Newman, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatal crash was reported at approximately 2:26 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5, just north of the West Stuhr Road off-ramp. According to CHP logs, the collision involved a van and a semi-truck. Investigators said the semi-truck driver reported that the van rear-ended the truck. Authorities noted the crash occurred near construction-related lane closures, where the slow lane and portions of the roadway were already restricted at the time of the collision. Emergency crews, including firefighters and ambulance personnel, responded to the scene and found one person suffering from fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
