Simi Valley, CA, June 3, 2025– One person was hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision that occurred Monday afternoon on Santa Susana Pass Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The incident happened around 3:29 p.m. on June 2, on the eastbound side of Santa Susana Pass Road near Box Canyon Road. A black Tesla reportedly collided with another vehicle under circumstances that remain under investigation. Both vehicles sustained damage, and airbags were deployed in each. Emergency crews, including local firefighters and paramedics, responded to the scene promptly. One individual was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Eastbound lanes of Santa Susana Pass Road were blocked temporarily as authorities cleared debris and investigated the cause of the accident.
One Person Hospitalized After Two-Vehicle Crash on Santa Susana Pass Road in Simi Valley
On the evening of December 25, 2022, a tragic single-vehicle accident occurred on Santa Susana Pass Road near Box Canyon Road in Simi Valley, California. At approximately 6:35 p.m., a vehicle veered off the roadway and plunged over 300 feet down a hillside. Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene. One occupant was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was airlifted to a local hospital in critical condition. The California Highway Patrol reported that the vehicle involved was a silver Corvette. The driver, identified as Michael Gordon Butler, had recently purchased the car and was returning from a family Christmas gathering with his passenger, 23-year-old Coldren James Lee Udell Kiblinger. Investigations revealed that Butler was driving under the influence at the time of the crash. He later pleaded guilty to one felony count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and was sentenced to four years in state prison
