Susanville, CA, December 27, 2022. – A head-on collision left one person seriously injured Monday afternoon on Highway 44 near Pittville Road, close to Poison Lake, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident occurred around 3:25 p.m. and involved two vehicles that collided under unclear circumstances. Emergency responders, including fire crews and paramedics, arrived at the scene and found one individual with serious injuries. Due to the severity of the injuries, an air ambulance was dispatched to the site, and the highway was temporarily closed to facilitate the helicopter landing and medical evacuation. The injured person was airlifted to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. No further information about the victim’s identity or current condition has been released. On Tuesday, December 27, 2022, a severe head-on collision occurred on Highway 44 near Pittville Road, just east of the Bogard Rest Area in Susanville, California. The accident involved a 2009 Ford F-150 driven eastbound by 66-year-old Debbie Guaspari-Larosa of Napa and a 2006 Buick traveling westbound, operated by a 51-year-old woman from Provo, Utah. For reasons still under investigation, the two vehicles collided head-on. The driver of the Buick suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Three other individuals, including Guaspari-Larosa, Jeremy Card, and Sebastian Jones, sustained injuries and were transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center for treatment.
