Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle on Cameron Park Drive in El Dorado County
El Dorado County, CA – July 8 — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday in Cameron Park, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision occurred on July 7 near the intersection of Cameron Park Drive and Meder Road. Preliminary findings indicate a black Kia was traveling northbound on Cameron Park Drive when it drifted onto the sidewalk and struck a pedestrian who was also walking northbound. Investigators are still working to determine why the vehicle left the roadway. The impact threw the pedestrian into a nearby drainage ditch, causing major injuries. Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital, where the pedestrian later succumbed to their injuries. Authorities said the victim was an adult but have not released the person’s identity, age, or gender pending notification of next of kin.
