Long Beach, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Early Morning Accident at East Seventh Street and Channel Drive

On the morning of April 23, 2025, a tragic incident occurred at approximately 2:38 a.m. near the intersection of East Seventh Street and Channel Drive in Long Beach, California. A 45-year-old man was struck by a vehicle while lying in the roadway. The driver of a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5, traveling eastbound on Seventh Street, observed the pedestrian in the road and immediately stopped to assist. While the driver was stopped, a black truck drove over the pedestrian and fled the scene without stopping. The driver of the Hyundai Ioniq remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
