Pedestrian Killed in Oxnard Crash Identified as Jesus Gomez Soriano
Oxnard, CA, May 2, 2026 – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle last Friday night in Oxnard. According to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim was Jesus Gomez Soriano, a 50-year-old resident of Oxnard. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wooley Road, just west of Commercial Avenue. The Oxnard Police Department reported that Soriano was attempting to cross the roadway when he was struck by a westbound SUV. Investigators stated that Soriano was not inside a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash and was thrown into the eastbound lanes due to the impact. Police officers and emergency personnel arrived at the scene and found Soriano lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the SUV driver, identified only as a 21-year-old Oxnard man, remained at the location and cooperated with investigators. Officials indicated that impairment was not suspected, although the driver was cited for unspecified violations.
