Rafael Cruz Killed in Train Accident on North Avenue 61
Highland Park, CA – May 7 — A 60-year-old man was killed after being struck by a train Thursday morning in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The incident was reported at approximately 7:17 a.m. near 100 North Avenue 61. Authorities said the victim was hit by a light rail train operating on Metro’s A Line. Details surrounding the incident, including why the pedestrian was on the tracks at the time of the collision, have not yet been released. Firefighters and emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the crash was reported and pronounced the victim dead at the location. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as Rafael Cruz, 60.
