Rayla Piedra Killed in Fresno Car Accident at Belmont and Brawley Avenues

Fresno, CA (October 31, 2025) – Authorities have identified 14-year-old Rayla Piedra as one of the two victims who died following a tragic car crash on Tuesday night in Fresno. According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident occurred around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Belmont and Brawley Avenues. Investigators said 21-year-old Angelina Nino was driving when she lost control of the vehicle and veered off the roadway . Nino was pronounced dead at the scene, while Piedra, who was a passenger, was rushed to the hospital with major injuries. Despite medical efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries. A 27-year-old male passenger also sustained major injuries and remains hospitalized.

Rayla Piedra Killed in Fresno Car Accident at Belmont and Brawley Avenues

Tragedy struck late Tuesday night when a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Brawley Avenue claimed the life of 14-year-old Rayla Piedra. The incident also resulted in the death of her sister, 21-year-old Angelina Nino.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred around 11:05 p.m. near Belmont Avenue and Brawley Avenue. Authorities say the vehicle, driven by Angelina Nino, was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when it failed to stop at a Brawley Avenue stop sign. The car then left the roadway, striking a power pole, several trees, a fence, a parked vehicle, and finally coming to rest in a commercial lot.

Angelina Nino was pronounced dead at the scene. Rayla Piedra, a student at Justin Garza High School in the Central Unified School District, was hospitalized with major injuries and later succumbed to them. A 27-year-old male passenger was also in the vehicle and is currently hospitalized with serious injuries
