Fresno County, CA, June 17 – A woman was killed in a multi-vehicle collision involving a big rig on Interstate 5 in Fresno County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities said the crash occurred at approximately 12:00 p.m. on Interstate 5, just north of Jayne Avenue. Investigators reported that a 2025 Freightliner was approaching stopped traffic when the driver failed to stop in time and collided with a 2022 Mazda CX-5. The force of the impact pushed the Mazda into the rear of a Toyota Tundra. The Freightliner continued forward, striking a 2024 Mercedes-Benz E350 before ultimately jackknifing on the roadway. One woman sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Authorities have not yet released her identity pending notification of next of kin.
